Cabot Highlands

Inverness

Set only seven miles from the city of Inverness, the capital of The Highlands, and only two miles from Inverness Airport, Castle Stuart Golf Links at Cabot Highlands is situated on the magnificent Moray Firth. This modern golf design masterpiece, although only opened in 2009, feels and looks as if it has been part of the landscape for at least a century. Hugging the shoreline of the Moray Firth on the opening holes of the front and back nine, it offers wonderful views of the Black Isle and well known landmarks, including Kessock Bridge and Chanonry Lighthouse. Manicured playing surfaces, firm and fast running fairways, cleverly designed mounding and natural rugged vegetation come together, ensuring the links looks amazing, feels as if you are the only group on the course, and plays fantastically. Offering visitors a warm and welcoming invite into their art-deco inspired clubhouse and full access to their excellent practice facilities, Cabot Highlands will ensure you enjoy full Highland Hospitality on your Scottish Golf Break.

History: Opened to visitors in 2009, Castle Stuart Golf Links is a modern course, designed by Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse. However, its impact on the golfing world was immediate, when it was placed at number 56 on the world list of top courses and was also named top new international course by Golf Magazine, in its first year. Castle Stuart's reputation was further enhanced in 2011, when it hosted the first ever European Tour event in the Scottish Highlands. The Scottish Open was staged at Castle Stuart for three successive years (2011 to 2013) and again in 2016. These events ensured the marvellous course and majestic surroundings of The Highlands were exposed to a global television audience, which enhanced its reputation further. Castle Stuart Golf Links was acquired by Canadian founded company Cabot in 2022, and plans are underway for a second eighteen hole course on the site, along with luxury accommodation.

Castle Stuart Golf Links: Best described as a throwback to golf as it once was, Castle Stuart Golf Links at Cabot Highlands hugs the shoreline of the Moray Firth, and is set within a rugged and natural landscape, comprised of vast expanses of gorse, broom, heather, and sea marram. Tightly framed and far-stretching views, simultaneously create a sense of grounding and grandeur, when you are on the course. Manicured playing surfaces and natural rugged vegetation come together in a design reminiscent of golf’s transitional period from 1890 to 1935. With infinity edge greens and rumpled fairways that are wide enough to ensure it is an enjoyable experience for higher handicapped players, yet with plenty of jeopardy built in, through smart bunkering and green complex design, to ensure it's a challenge for better golfers, Castle Stuart will appeal to a host of visitors. Castle Stuart Golf Links at Cabot Highlands is an eighteen hole, par 72 (men) and par 72 (women), course. It has tees ranging from 5,179 to 7,009 yards. Enjoy a throwback to golf as it once was. Golf Scotland. Golf The Highlands.

SGB Signature Hole: Number: Hole 10. Measuring 315 yards (W) and 405 yards (M) from the tee this par 4 (M) & (W), is in our opinion the finest hole on Castle Stuart Golf Links at Cabot Highlands. From the cliff top tee-box, down to the beach this mid length hole offers sweeping views up the Moray Firth. A good down hill drive to the left side of the devilishly placed fairway bunker opens up the preferred angle into this beach side green. Shots played from the right hand side of the fairway will have to negotiate a dune ridge and a green side hollow, if they are to successfully find the green. A visually stunning and exhilarating hole to play and one where the Scottish Golf Breaks team would gladly take a par, any day.

Doak Course: A second course designed by acclaimed golf course architect Tom Doak, is being built on a pristine piece of land, playing around Castle Stuart’s 400-year-old castle. The course will incorporate natural contours, meandering through hillsides, expansive open land, and with several holes placed alongside the water. Course construction began in 2023 with an estimated completion date of 2024.

Practice facilities: Complimentary use of all practice facilities are available to visitors, prior to their tee time. Facilities include, a driving range, a short course, a short game area and a practice putting green. Golf lessons and coaching opportunities are available at Cabot Highlands.

Clubhouse: The art-deco inspired clubhouse at Cabot Highlands, which includes a bar, a restaurant (see food and dining section), and a top-floor lounge, offers magnificent panoramic views across the Moray Firth and beyond. Its views, modern layout and friendly staff ensure it is a fantastic venue to spend the afternoon after a round on the course. Playing visitors are most welcome to utilise the clubhouse for its bar and dining, and its excellent locker-room, lockers, and shower facilities. The Golf Shop offers a wide range of Cabot Highlands and Castle Stuart branded clothing, merchandise and golfing accoutrements. Club hire and Caddie services are available too.

Food & Dining: Set within the magnificent art-deco inspired clubhouse at Cabot Highlands, the restaurant primarily caters to visiting golfers. Breakfast rolls are available in the clubhouse until 12 noon, while lunch and dinner are offered from 12 noon to 8pm. The menu provides golfers with a wide range of hearty favourites, and vegetarian/vegan options, whilst the well stocked bar will ensure visitors can enjoy an assortment of soft drinks or alcoholic beverages, in a fabulous setting.
