Situated on the rugged Aberdeenshire coastline at Philorth Links, Fraserburgh Golf Club is one of the world’s oldest golf clubs, founded in 1777. The club offers two excellent courses. Corbiehill Championship Links, a James Braid inspired course, is widely regarded as one of the finest traditional links courses in north-east Scotland. On Corbiehill, golfers enjoy natural dunes, spectacular coastal scenery and an authentic links challenge. The second course is an enjoyable nine-hole layout named Rosehill. It is suitable for golfers of all abilities.
History: Fraserburgh Golf Club was founded on the 14th April, 1777. It is recognised as the world’s seventh oldest golf club, and the oldest still operating under its original name. The club relocated to Philorth Links in 1891, before James Braid redesigned the course in 1922, creating the foundations of today’s celebrated traditional links layout.
Championship Course: The Corbiehill Championship Course, inspired by James Braid’s redesign, provides a true Scottish links test, with natural dunes, undulating fairways and strategic hole designs, it requires every shot to be considered carefully. Its growing reputation makes it one of north-east Scotland’s finest golfing experiences. The Corbiehill Championship Course is an eighteen hole, par 70 (men), par 68 (women), track. It has tees ranging from 5,323 to 6,318 yards.
SGB Signature Hole: Hole 3. Name. Whytes Shelter. Measuring 296 yards (W) and 331 yards (M) from the tee, once you catch your breath from scaling Corbiehill, take a moment before teeing-off to take stock of your surroundings. The top of Corbiehill provides a wonderful panoramic view of the entire course and should be savoured by all who take on this famous links. Playing downhill many would opt for an iron off the tee to ensure both accuracy and good yardage for the approach, but beware the large fairway bunker ready and waiting at around 250 yards. The green is on an uphill approach and any ball landing short will make some look rather foolish by rolling back towards your feet. You have been warned. The green is guarded well by bunkers on both sides.
Clubhouse, Professional Shop & Practice Facilities: The modern clubhouse, over looking the course, provides a welcoming bar, lounge, visitor changing rooms and shower facilities.. Professional Shop: The well-stocked professional shop provides equipment, clothing, tuition and offers PGA professional coaching. Golfers can also hire caddies, buggies and electric or manual trolleys for their round. Practice Facilities: The club warmly welcomes visitors to access their practice area and putting green.
