Eyemouth Golf Club

Situated in Scotland's South East, on the spectacular Berwickshire coastline, and only nine miles from the English border and Berwick upon Tweed, the picturesque harbour town of Eyemouth is home to the fantastic championship course at Eyemouth Golf Club. Perched on the clifftops, Eyemouth links offers year round golf, a great challenge and without doubt, one of the best holes to be found anywhere in Scotland, across the UK and in Ireland. Eyemouth Golf Club welcomes visitors to enjoy the clubhouse, its hospitality, its excellent practice facilities and a great round of golf.

History: Golf historians suggest that the game was played at Eyemouth as far back as 1880, with a course, consisting of five holes varying in length from 100 to 160 yards, being laid out near the remains of Eyemouth Fort. Eyemouth Golf club was subsequently formed in 1894 and for its first 103 years played over a nine-hole course along the cliffs. The course was extended to eighteen holes in 1997, when the club also built a new clubhouse, on an elevated setting a little further from the shoreline, offering majestic panoramic views across Berwickshire and beyond.

Eyemouth Golf Club is home to an exceptional clifftop links course, offering stunning views towards St Abbs, Holy Island and a distant Bamburgh Castle. The course has hosted various championships including the SLGA Scottish Girls Championship, the Belhaven Scottish Club Handicap Regional Finals, and the Scottish Golf Regional Medal Final qualifying event. The signature 6th hole, 'Ah-Still-Know-Ken', (I still don't know - What club to use? How to play this hole?), where players hit over the North Sea to the distant green, has won many awards including 'Britain's No 1 Most Extraordinary Golf Hole'. While the 13th hole, 'Hawk Ness' is mainland Scotland's longest hole, measuring 656 yards from the tiger tees. Visitors are always welcome to play these holes from the back tees. However, with so many different holes that are a challenge in their own right, breath taking views and its spectacular location the course has much more to offer than just these two holes, extraordinary as they are. Eyemouth Golf Club has an eighteen hole, par 72 (men), par 73 (women), course. It has tees ranging from 5,462 to 6,404 yards.

SGB Signature Hole: While hole 6, 'Ah-Still-Know-Ken', is without doubt one of the most dramatic in golf and hole 13, 'Hawk Ness', is a monster, neither are our signature hole. That accolade belongs to another. And it's a matter of the heart for the SGB team as it's the first hole we ever sponsored when starting out as a company. SGB Signature Hole: Name: Luff Hard. Number: Hole 14. Measuring 265 yards (W) and 354 yards (M) from the tee, this par 4 is named after Luff Hard Rock, which sits near to Eyemouth. Luff is a nautical term, meaning to steer hard or close to the wind. Depending on the prevailing wind, this sound nautical advice could very well be aimed at the golfer teeing up on this dogleg left hole. In the professional's notes, he advises that the ideal tee shot should be played to position yourself in the corner of the dogleg. This will open up the hole for a short to mid iron into the two tiered green.

Clubhouse & Practice facilities: Perched on the top of Gunsgreenhill, the modern clubhouse at Eyemouth affords stunning panoramic views across Berwickshire. It hosts a fully stocked professional shop, offering everything that a golfer would require, from the latest golf clubs to the best clothing available. The clubhouse has modern locker rooms, and changing facilities. While a bar and restaurant (see food and dining section) are located on the upper floor. Buggies, clubs and electric & manual carts are available for hire from the professional's shop. Practice facilities: Eyemouth Golf Club offers excellent facilities including a practice area, nets, and bunker, and practice chipping, pitching & putting greens.
