Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort

Situated within 240 acres of picturesque woodland on the banks of the River Clyde, just a short drive from Glasgow International Airport and Glasgow city centre, Mar Hall Golf & Spa Resort is one of Scotland’s most luxurious five-star destinations. This magnificent Victorian mansion combines elegant accommodation, championship golf, exceptional dining and an indulgent spa to create an unforgettable Scottish retreat. The resort’s championship golf course winds through mature woodland and parkland, offering a rewarding challenge with spectacular views towards the Kilpatrick Hills and the River Clyde. Designed to complement the estate’s natural landscape, the course appeals to golfers of all abilities with its strategic layout and immaculate presentation. Beyond the fairways, guests can enjoy luxurious guestrooms and suites, award-winning hospitality, outstanding leisure facilities and personalised service. Whether visiting for a golfing break, relaxing spa escape or memorable countryside getaway, Mar Hall provides a refined experience in one of Scotland’s most impressive country house settings.

History: Originally constructed in the early nineteenth century as a grand private residence, Mar Hall has long been recognised as one of Scotland’s finest stately homes. The magnificent mansion has been carefully restored and transformed into a luxury five-star hotel, preserving many of its original architectural features while introducing contemporary comfort and exceptional hospitality. Today, the estate is renowned for combining historic elegance, championship golf, luxury accommodation and first-class leisure facilities within an impressive countryside setting.

The Championship Course: Designed by celebrated golf architect Dave Thomas, the championship course at Mar Hall is an eighteen-hole parkland layout that blends seamlessly into the estate’s mature woodland. Rolling fairways, strategically positioned bunkers, natural water features and subtly contoured greens create an enjoyable challenge for golfers of every standard. Throughout the round, players are rewarded with panoramic views across the River Clyde towards the Kilpatrick Hills. The course is maintained to an excellent standard throughout the season, offering a memorable golfing experience in tranquil surroundings. The Championship Course is an eighteen-hole, par 70 layout measuring 6,507 yards from the championship tees.

SGB Signature Hole: Hole 4. Running parallel to the River Clyde and perfectly capturing the beauty of Mar Hall Golf Course, this par 4 is the second hardest hole on the course, stroke index 2.  Measuring 449 yards in length, the hole demands both precision and confidence from the tee. And even with good execution of the drive, a lengthy approach shot is required to make the green in regulation.

Clubhouse, Professional shop & Practice facilities: The welcoming clubhouse provides golfers with excellent facilities before and after their round, including comfortable changing rooms, locker facilities and relaxing spaces to enjoy refreshments. Professional shop: The professional shop stocks leading golf apparel, accessories and essential equipment, while the experienced golf team offers expert advice and PGA coaching. Visitors can also arrange buggy and trolley hire before play. Practice facilities: Practice facilities include a dedicated putting green and a short-game practice area, allowing golfers to warm up or develop every aspect of their game before heading onto the championship course.

Accommodation: Mar Hall offers a superb collection of luxurious guestrooms and suites, individually designed to complement the character of the historic mansion. Spacious accommodation combines elegant furnishings with modern comforts, while many rooms enjoy beautiful views across the estate, the River Clyde or surrounding countryside. Guests benefit from refined interiors, generous living space and five-star amenities, making the resort equally suited to golfing holidays, romantic breaks, celebrations and relaxing countryside escapes.

The Mar Hall Spa: The spa at Mar Hall provides a peaceful sanctuary where guests can relax and rejuvenate throughout their stay. A carefully selected menu of luxury treatments, massages and beauty therapies is complemented by modern wellness facilities. Guests also enjoy access to the leisure club, featuring a fully equipped fitness suite, swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Together, these facilities create the perfect environment to unwind after a day on the championship golf course.
