History: A golf club was formed in Callander during 1889, by a group of local businessmen. Old Tom Morris (St Andrews) advised on the layout of the course, which was located two miles East of the present course and he was invited to attend the official opening of the club on the 7th June 1890. Although popular, the location, just outside of the town, made it prohibitive for visitors to play. In 1892, a new location was found on the sight of today's course. This site was ideal as its elevated situation provided majestic views and was located a mere 500 yards north-east of the railway station. With no time lost, nine holes were duly prepared once again under the supervision of Old Tom Morris.

In September 1913, the Town Council purchased the course and additional fields in order to extend it to eighteen holes. Willie Fernie from Troon was engaged to advise on the new layout of holes. The new course was officially opened on the 20th June 1914.

The Golf Course: A short but challenging parkland course, Callander has compact and well guarded greens. With seven par 3s, many of which are long, eleven par 4s, mature trees lining tight fairways and a number of cleverly placed bunkers on the course, accuracy is at a premium. The course's setting amongst a lush and majestic landscape will ensure that any round of golf will be well enjoyed by visiting players. Callander Golf Club is home to an eighteen hole, par 64/66 (men), par 68 (women), course. It has tees ranging from 4,613 to 5,208 yards.

SGB Signature Hole: Name: Avenue. Number: Hole 15. Measuring 136 yards (M) and 97 yards (W) this short par 3 is a little beauty. Requiring a tee shot to be guided through a tight avenue of mature trees and over a cavernous front bunker to reach the green, if you're not accurate or make the wrong club selection all sorts of trouble may ensue on this hole. With the majestic ridge and peak of Ben Ledi framed between the tree-line and the sky, this is a picture perfect par three, and rightly lays claim to being one of the most famous short holes in Scotland.

Clubhouse and Practice facilities: The new clubhouse at Callander Golf Club was opened in 2023. Named 'Old Tom's Rest', it provides a modern, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, where visiting golfers can enjoy excellent hospitality. With fantastic indoor facilities and a beautiful outdoor area, for enjoying during good weather, the clubhouse is the perfect place to indulge in a refreshing drink and some tasty food, before or after a round. Visitors are most welcome to make use of locker room, changing and shower facilities within the clubhouse. Pro shop: The pro shop is fully stocked with a selection of current clothing and the leading brands in golf equipment. It also provides for your day-to-day golfing needs selling balls, tees etc., and providing trolley and buggy rentals. Practice facilities: The practice facilities at Callander Golf Club include a driving range, a chipping and bunker practice area and a large putting green.
