Geographically, Argyll and Bute is the second largest council area in Scotland. However, it only has a population of around ninety thousand people. Argyll and Bute is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty spots, scenic coastlines and it has over thirty islands to explore. The region is famed for its food larder and its Scotch Whisky production. In fact, it has two of the five recognised Scotch Whisky regions within its borders, Islay and Campbeltown.

Argyll and Bute is in parts rugged and remote, yet it is more accessible than many believe. The area is well served by excellent restaurants and many hotels.
