Situated in North Berwick, on the town's East Links, Glen Golf Club is approximately twenty-five miles from Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city. The Glen as it's often referred to, climbs its way to the cliff tops, and enjoys spectacular headland views across the Firth of Forth and of Bass Rock. This beautifully manicured course offers all-year-round golf and is suitable for players of every ability level. The Glen has excellent practice facilities, which are open to visitors. Featuring a modern clubhouse sitting on the shoreline, offering magnificent views, and a warm welcome, Glen Golf Club is a stunning venue to play at on your golf break in Scotland.
History: Golf was first played on North Berwick's East Links, during the 17th century. Although a recognisable nine hole course did not come into being until 1894. The course was then extended to eighteen holes in 1906 with a design provided by five times Open Champion, James Braid and his partner Ben Sayers. At a Special General Meeting in July 1930, the club adopted the name 'Glen Golf Club' which was registered in July of 1931.
Glen Golf Club. Possibly, the most visually stunning course on Scotland's Golf Coast, Glen Golf Club offers cliff top links golf of an excellent standard. As the course climbs to the headlands, the dramatic views and dramatic nature of the holes offered on this stretch of the track ensure a rich and rewarding golfing experience. The course at Glen Golf Club is an eighteen hole, par 70 (men), par 73 (women), track. It has tees ranging from 5,773 to 6,275 yards. And, with a modern and welcoming clubhouse Glen Golf Club is a fantastic venue to visit and play at during a golf holiday in Scotland.
SGB Signature Hole: Name: Sea Hole. Number: Hole 13. Measuring 128 yards (W) and 148 yards (M) from the tee, the first shot on this par 3 is played blind. Depending on the prevailing wind, it may require a wedge or a long iron. With Bass Rock at your back, the craggy coastline, the beach and the Firth of Forth protecting the hole's right flank, for its entire length, and heavy rough running to the left, the visual impression offered on this hole is stunning and somewhat scary. Tee up and pick a line on the beach, guarding the green, close to its rear, and you are left with the feeling of hitting towards an invisible island green. This is a fantastic, yet tricky par 3, and one of our favourites on Scotland's Golf Coast.
